A real Auckland café site we built.
A website for a neighbourhood café — the kind of business where the website has exactly one job: make someone hungry enough to walk in.
The goal was to capture the atmosphere of the place before a customer arrives. Cafés live and die on foot traffic and local search, so the site had to do three things well: look appetising, answer the practical questions instantly, and work perfectly on a phone.
We built the design around large, warm food photography with generous whitespace so nothing competes for attention. The menu is laid out to scan in seconds rather than forcing a PDF download — a mistake most café sites still make. Opening hours, address and an embedded map sit high on the page, because those are the three things people actually open a café website to find.
Mobile-first was non-negotiable: the overwhelming majority of café searches happen on a phone, often while someone is standing on the street deciding where to go. Every layout decision was made at 375px first, then scaled up.
The site is fast-loading, SEO-ready for local search, and structured so the owner can update the menu without touching code or paying anyone to do it.
